Mr. Steiner is of counsel in the Denver office. He has practiced law since 1976. After ten years as a legal aid lawyer, he joined the Colorado Attorney General's Office. In 1988 he was promoted to first assistant attorney general, supervising ten lawyers in the Labor and Civil Rights Unit.

In 1990 Mr. Steiner was hired as general counsel of Colorado Compensation Insurance Authority, now known as Pinnacol Assurance. He was active in district court litigation and maintained an appellate practice. He was also responsible for legislation and advised management on a wide range of topics.

Mr. Steiner has extensive appellate experience. He has argued approximately 20 cases at the Colorado Supreme Court and more than 50 cases at the Colorado Court of Appeals.

He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Colorado and in the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the American, Colorado, and Denver Bar Associations and for five years served on the executive committee of the Workers' Compensation Section of the Colorado Bar Association. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute.

His practice concentrates on insurance and defense of public entities and their employees.
